We have not shown lambs for 4 years and we are getting ready to buy 2 in the next couple weeks, now we are spending quite a bit on these lambs because we want to be able to compete Jackpot, county and State level and do well.  My question is how do we play the feed game so we get them looking and feeling right? We do feed Highnoon to the steers, and will of course feed it to the lambs.

Thanks for any help :)

What we start with is finding out what type of feed the lambs you purchase are on-- either textured or pellet. We then match a creep feed to them. Once the lambs get up to the 100 lb. range we then go to a show feed. Either our 15 % or 18 %. We topdress the High glo and shine em up. When you are jackpotting keep in mind you will have to probably liquid supplement them as well. We have a product called fresh look that works great. The biggest challande in jackpotting lambs is that to do it right you can probably only go out once a month with the same sheep. It is very hard on those little lambs to go every weekend.

Let us know where you are at and we will get you going on the right foot.
