We've got a pig that is going to be overweight by fair time and we would like to know how to slow the rate of gain without putting him out of condition. We've got about 56 days and would like to limit him to about 1-1.2lbs/day of gain. Can this be done?

Thanks,

rkg

We have several customers in the same boat. What they are doing is feeding 2 lbs of base 12:00 feed with 1 lb beet pulp, 1 lb of oat groats -- this will slow done they gain and keep them content, The last few weeks they then start adding 1 lb of full bloom and 2 lbs of HIgh glo. This will blow them apart at the end.

Thanks for the reply. I can get oat groats but don't think I can get beet pulp. Is there something else I can substitute for pulp?

Thanks,

Ron

Not really, Most of the time a feed store will have beet pulp shreds. You do not want the pelleted pulp.
